Aged in 77% new and 23% one-year-old French oak barrels and composed of 89% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 Troplong Mondot has a deep garnet-purple color and comes bursting out of the glass with bold preserved plums, Black Forest cake and Indian spices scents plus suggestions of espresso, black olives, cigar box and tilled soil. Full-bodied, rich, plushly textured and oh-so-decadent, it packs in the spiced black fruit layers and finishes with fantastic persistence.

Great minty coolness and focus for this vintage! So much vitality and drive! I love the elegant dryness of this wine, which has only a hint of the opulence of this vintage. Very long and energetic finish with wonderful, herbal and mineral freshness. Excellent potential. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. Château Quintus vertical tasting. SP.

Notas de Falstaff

Dark ruby garnet, purple reflections, delicate watery rim. Subtle touch of precious wood, tobacco savouriness, still shy at first, background with fine dark forest berry confit, needs air to reveal itself, notes of preserved cherries and candied orange zest. Complex, fine sweetness in the texture, taut, fine savoury tannins, some nougat on the finish, has great length, ripe blackberries and cherries in the aftertaste, some gingerbread in the finish, peppery touch, convincing finish, certain ageing potential. (2030 - 2065).
