Notas de "The Wine Advocate"
The 2020 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese *** (White Capsule) is deep, super intense and aromatic in its precise and elegant fruit but also refined and nuanced, with slate and chamomile flowers highlighting this utterly complex yet pure and "classic," fruity bouquet. Pure and fresh on the palate, this is a precise, crystalline and saline, very elegant and salivating Sonnenuhr that will need some years on the bottle to refine. The finish is very intense, aromatic and precise, revealing a crunchy slate character and mouth-watering salinity. A great dry Sonnenuhr from Wehlen and incomparable with any WSU I know. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 52 21 in July 2022.
Notas de James Suckling
This remarkable dry Mosel is still very young and currently the best aspect of it is the super-long and super-mineral finish. There you feel the profound structure of the wine and its underplayed power. Drinkable now, but best from 2023.
Notas de Vinous sobre la añada 2021
An immediate hit of apricot and cream is quite the opening for the 2021 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese ** White Capsule. A distinct note of newer (not new) wood, lends milky hazelnut charm sitting well. With more air, the lemon speaks louder and clearer, but is still supported by that bit of cream. The palate, likewise, has that touch but shines with lemony brightness, buffered but still absolutely direct, with the tiniest inflection of apricot. The finish is squeaky clean, long and elegant. (Dry) 95/100
